Automata, A Kinetic Art Call!

Posted on March 31, 2013

atr17-1The Irma Freeman Center for Imagination is seeking national artists to supply work for Automata, Kinetic Art Show!, an upcoming exhibition guest curated by Katy Dement. Submission Deadline: May 1, 2013

“The kinetic energy of an object is the energy which it possesses due to its motion. It is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body of a given mass from rest to its stated velocity. Having gained this energy during its acceleration , the body maintains this kinetic energy unless its speed changes. The same amount of work is done by the body in decelerating from its current speed to a state of rest.”

Criteria: Work must express motion and be activated by hand, or power (motorized, wind, mechanical). In other words, your art should move!

Work may be wall mounted, stand on pedestal, or hang from ceiling. We will seek out art works that are professionally executed and durable so that patrons may gently interact with your art. All media considered. The IF Center would also love to display “blue prints,” conceptual drawings, sketches, as well as a limited selection of video, of your creations or yet to be constructed inventions. Works should not be recently or widely exhibited in Pittsburgh.

Entry fee: $15.00 per artwork; Up to three (3) artworks; Checks payable to The IF Center

Please submit: Images, jpegs, biography/artist statement, link to website to DO NOT SEND ACTUAL ART WORKS for consideration.
