The PG published a wonderful article about us on Tuesday. It was written by Diana Nelson Jones, and it begins:

Walkabout: An energetic spirit sparks artistic fun at Irma Freeman Center for Imagination

When I first met Sheila Ali about 20 years ago, it was to report on her launch of an offset-press magazine called Girl’s Life.

Ms. Ali kind of fascinated me. It was a long time ago so I don’t recall how I knew, but she was clearly more than a young entrepreneur; I sensed a whimsical artist within her and thought about her from time to time.

Earlier this year, I finally stopped to see the sign on a dazzling facade of mosaic glass at 5006 Penn Ave. in Garfield. It read “Irma Freeman Center for Imagination.”

I Googled it later and saw Sheila Ali’s name as executive director. She created the mosaic from recycled glass.
