Kodjo Sagbo started creating paintings at a young age and most of his painting skills and knowledge are self-taught. He also creates artwork from pictures, imagination, observation and memory. His techniques developed into amazing artwork by using colors known as acrylic colors. In 2016, he married Ahoefa Eklu and they both started the journey together and created different varieties of artwork. Their goal is to show the world the beauty of colors and brush techniques to create something Beautiful in society. Visit their Youtube Channel to discover their brush techniques and color blending.
Carolina Tapia-Urzua’s drip painting abstracts find their roots in the works of Jackson Pollock. Carolina became fascinated with his style when she was 20 years old, and she particularly enjoys liquid acrylics, which she drips directly from the tube onto plexiglass, canvas, acrylic paper, etc. Her inspiration comes from colors, shapes, nature, thoughts, dreams, emotions and especially movement that flows around her from the ocean and city life. As a native of Chile who lived in California for half of her life, where the Pacific Ocean was her main connection between these two dearly loved places. Now that she’s in Pittsburgh, her new inspiration comes from the forests and the changing seasons, especially the beautiful colors that come with the changing of the trees in the fall.
Joe Witzel has been in several solo and group shows over the years. The most recent was at the Old Hotel Gallery in December in Harmony. He also attends several figure drawing sessions in the area. When it comes to his art, he prefers to leave the interpretation to the viewer
Olwyn Best is native to Pittsburgh and academically trained in fine-arts. She focuses on oils, acrylics, encaustic, and pen and ink. The imagery she works with is collage, fantasy, portraits and some plein air. She writes, “I was born in a cave on a lonely planet, in some distant and forgotten universe. I have no idea what I am doing here,/ I just want to return home.”
